I'm Martina, a therapist, author, speaker, and educator based in Vancouver, BC.
Therapy for understanding what's happening underneath the reaction.
What I do
-
I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor with more than a decade of experience across healthcare, community mental health, and private practice.
I specialize in trauma, ADHD and neurodivergence, attachment, relationships, parenting, perinatal mental health, emotional regulation, and nervous system regulation. My work brings together evidence-based practice and real human experience, helping people understand not only what they’re feeling, but why.
-
I’m the author of Same Page Parenting: Align With Your Partner to Raise Happy, Confident, and Resilient Kids, which brings attachment, relationships, mental health, and parenting research into everyday family life.
I also created The Therapy Buddy: A Journal for Processing Therapy Sessions and authored Supporting Your Partner Postpartum: A Realistic Feminist Guide for Non-Birthing Partners.
My writing has also appeared in BCACC Insights Magazine, including The Unique Challenges of ADHD in Motherhoodand Being Human First, alongside published articles, interviews, expert contributions, and book excerpts across parenting and mental health media.
-
I speak about the things I spend my days thinking and talking about: parenthood, relationships, attachment, trauma, ADHD, neurodivergence, emotional regulation, and the nervous system.
I was a featured speaker at the 2025 Perinatal Mental Health Conference, presenting The ADHD Parent in a Postpartum World: Navigating Overwhelm, Shame, and Sensory Overload.
I’m available for keynotes, workshops, professional trainings, panels, conferences, and virtual events, translating research into conversations people can actually understand, remember, and use.
-
One of my favourite parts of this work is making psychology feel less clinical and much more useful in real life.
My expertise has been featured or contributed to Parents, Good Housekeeping, SheKnows, NOLA Family Magazine, BCACC Insights Magazine, City Parent, The Baby Spot, Motherhood Later, Motherhood Moment, and more.
I’ve also been a guest on Tilt Parenting, Beautifully Complex, Minimalist Moms, Secrets of a Supermom, The Peaceful Parent, Modern Mommy Doc, and The Imperfect Dads Podcast, discussing parenting, relationships, ADHD, attachment, communication, and nervous system regulation.
I’m available for media commentary, podcast interviews, expert contributions, educational content, consultation, and thoughtful collaborations.

Areas of Practice
-
Sometimes you know exactly why you’re struggling. Other times, you just know you’re anxious, overwhelmed, people pleasing, shutting down, or reacting in ways you don’t totally understand.
We can get curious about what’s underneath it, including trauma, childhood experiences, family of origin, grief, breakups, attachment, boundaries, inner child work, emotional regulation and nervous system regulation. The goal isn’t to never get triggered. It’s to understand yourself better and have more choice in what happens next.
-
Description text goes hereADHD is so much more than being distracted. It can show up in overwhelm, emotional regulation, relationships, parenting, rejection sensitivity, burnout, executive functioning and the constant feeling that you should somehow be doing life better.
Instead of trying to make your brain work like everyone else’s, we figure out how your brain works and what actually helps.
-
Relationships have a funny way of bringing all our stuff to the surface. We can look at what’s happening underneath the conflict, not just tell you to “communicate better.”
This can include attachment, communication, infidelity and betrayal, boundaries, people pleasing, family of origin, relationship patterns, breakups, grief, intimacy and rebuilding trust. We’ll get curious about the cycle you’re caught in, where it came from, and how to do something different.
-
Parenthood can bring your entire history into the room. Pregnancy, postpartum, motherhood and parenting can stir up identity, relationships, ADHD, childhood wounds, attachment, anxiety, resentment, guilt and patterns you really don’t want to pass down.
We can work on parenting triggers, nervous system and emotional regulation, postpartum mental health, invisible load, boundaries, family patterns and breaking intergenerational cycles, without expecting you to become some perfectly regulated parent.
My Approach
-
Therapy with me is collaborative, warm and tailored to you. We’ll make sense of what’s happening through the lens of your experiences, relationships, nervous system and the ways you’ve learned to cope and protect yourself.
-
Depending on what you need, I draw from EMDR, IFS/parts work, attachment-based therapy, somatic and polyvagal approaches, emotion-focused therapy, mindfulness, psychodynamic therapy and neuroscience-informed psychoeducation.
-
I work from a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming and feminist lens, with space for your identity, lived experience, ADHD, relationships and the systems around you.
